The Allman Brothers Band, Atlanta, July 1971
My teenage self attended the afternoon show, which, no surprise, remains in my top five lifetime concerts. Duane and Berry were still with us that summer...

I also was at this show, front row. Took some awesome photos.
ReplyDeleteI was at this show too, backstage w/the Hampton GB. 19 yo friend of Mike Holbrook. All fun.
ReplyDeleteI was there. The Municipal Auditorium, while old and HOT, was still one of the best (if not THE best) music venues in Atlanta. I was also there for the last time they played before Duane died. I saw him walking down the ramp to the door on the right side of the auditorium, and it's an image that has stayed with me, because he looked supremely happy.
ReplyDeleteTwas my birthday.
ReplyDeletei never went to the auditorium, but from what i've heard, what would we have done, if not for ALEX COOLEY & FRYNDS with "CHAIN'S FOR FOOL'S"?....NO FABULOUS FOX???...i was blessed with standing 10ft. strait in front of DUANE'S AMP @ A WAREHOUSE on 12/31/70 *****
ReplyDeleteI was at the evening show, and as a matter of fact, I didn't remember there being an afternoon show! I saw them twice at the Municipal Auditorium, both with Duane, and I think this show was the first time they played Hotlanta in Atlanta. As always, the show was amazing! I also saw them at one of their Sunday afternoon free shows in Piedmont Park in May or June of 70.
